Sharabi is the story of an alcoholic (Shankar)  who had to choose between love and liquor.

He chose love with the solemn promise that he would never drink again. He strove hard sincere to keep his promise. All was well with his world… But one rainy night, an ailment, a chance and the elements conspired to break his promise. His long-slumbering weakness for liquor woke up to vanguish him. “I must have it”. His craving cried; his resistance broke. He lost the battle and love too. Liquor held sway over his life, his work, his will.

Love exerted to reclaim him, but she could not win him back it was too late then he had reached the point of no return

But when all human agencies had failed, TIME stepped to reclaim and redeem him

Because of his drinking and his blurred mind, he blasts the mine much before the appointed hour, much before the mine could be cleared of the workers thus causing a major tragedy, killing many and wounding many more his aged mother is one of them.
